As training camps heat up across the NFL, injuries are already shaping storylines for several big-name players and teams. While some are recovering from past ailments, others are dealing with new setbacks that could impact their availability for Week 1 or even threaten their long-term durability. Here’s a breakdown of notable updates heading into the heart of training camp.

Joe Mixon (RB, Texans): NFI List Monitor

Mixon begins camp on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list, with a foot injury that could cost him some serious time. The nature of the issue hasn't been disclosed, and any time missed in a new system is notable for the veteran back.

Najee Harris (RB, Steelers): Eye Injury Mystery

Harris is also on the NFI list due to an eye injury, though the full scope of the issue remains unclear. He has been present at the facility but has yet to participate in on-field activities. Until further updates surface, Harris’ availability for the start of the season remains in doubt.

Matt Stafford (QB, Rams): Back Soreness Raises Familiar Concerns

Stafford is managing back soreness reportedly tied to his past neck injury that was once considered career-threatening. Now 36, Stafford’s age and injury history are serious concerns. While he’s not expected to miss Week 1, the odds of him making it through a full 17-game slate appear slim.

Justin Jefferson (WR, Vikings): Precaution Over Panic

Jefferson is currently dealing with a hamstring injury, but the Vikings seem to be erring on the side of caution with their All-Pro receiver. As a veteran firmly embedded in the offensive scheme, Jefferson may benefit more from rest than reps. Fantasy managers should monitor the situation, but there’s no cause for panic, yet.

Justin Fields (QB, Steelers): Toe Dislocation, But Still On Track

Initial reports about Fields being “carted off” were misleading. The quarterback dislocated a toe on his right foot when stepped on by a teammate and was transported for further evaluation but was not immobile. While uncomfortable, the injury isn’t expected to affect his Week 1 status. Still, mobility and cutting could be mildly affected in the short term.

Hunter Renfrow (WR, Panthers): Health Battle Beyond Football

Renfrow missed all of last season battling ulcerative colitis, a serious, chronic condition that complicates nutrition and weight maintenance. Now with the Panthers, Renfrow is fighting both for his health and a roster spot. His journey remains one of the more challenging comeback stories this preseason.

Aaron Judge (OF, Yankees): IL Stint a Surprise After Flexor Strain

The Yankees slugger was placed on the injured list after sustaining a UCL flexor strain, an injury more commonly associated with pitchers. While it likely won’t impact his power, gripping the bat may be an issue early on. The move to the IL could also be a strategic roster decision as the Yankees await his full recovery.

Malik Nabers (WR, Giants): Lingering Toe Injury Could Be a Factor

Nabers has impressed at Giants camp but continues to manage a toe injury that dates back to his college days. Though not sidelining him, the toe issue is expected to linger and may require ongoing management throughout the season. The long-term concern could impact both his fantasy outlook and real-world usage.
