Offensive line health can have a major impact on an entire NFL offense, and several teams enter the 2026 season already dealing with significant injuries up front.

The OL SIC Score measures the overall health of each NFL team's offensive line, accounting for injuries and the impact of unavailable players across the unit. A lower OL SIC Score indicates a more injured offensive line.

Based on the latest OL SIC Scores, the Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Chargers have the five most injured offensive lines entering the 2026 NFL season. Here's a look at the key injuries affecting each unit ahead of Week 1.

1. Carolina Panthers — OL SIC Score: 56.8

Carolina enters the 2026 season with the lowest OL SIC Score in the NFL at 56.8, with injuries leaving the Panthers without both starting offensive tackles to begin the year.

Ikem Ekwonu will start the season on the PUP list as he continues recovering from the ruptured patellar tendon he suffered in January's playoff loss to the Rams. Ekwonu will miss at least the first four games and could return later in the opening portion of the season.

On the opposite side, Taylor Moton was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list due to a blood clot in his lung and will also miss the start of the regular season.

The Panthers' depth has taken another hit with Brady Christensen on injured reserve because of a hamstring injury. Starting guards Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis also missed time during training camp with nagging injuries, although both are expected to be available for the regular season.

2. Washington Commanders — OL SIC Score: 61.0

Washington enters the 2026 season with the second-lowest OL SIC Score in the NFL at 61.0, with the loss of left tackle Laremy Tunsil forcing significant changes across the offensive line.

Tunsil suffered a torn triceps during an August training camp practice and is expected to miss a significant portion of the season. His absence forced Washington to reshuffle the unit, with Brandon Coleman moving to left tackle to replace him.

The Commanders also spent most of August without Nick Allegretti, who was sidelined by a calf strain. Allegretti has since returned to practice and is back at starting center as Washington prepares for Week 1.

3. Detroit Lions — OL SIC Score: 68.8

Detroit enters the 2026 season with the third-lowest OL SIC Score in the NFL at 68.8, with injuries creating uncertainty and forcing changes in the middle of the offensive line.

The biggest loss is starting center Cade Mays, who suffered a significant wrist injury during training camp and was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return. Head coach Dan Campbell said Mays will miss significant time but is expected to return at some point this season.

Offensive tackle Giovanni Manu will also begin the season unavailable after being placed on the reserve/NFI list with a knee injury.

Detroit's depth took another hit when Michael Niese suffered a leg injury during the preseason. Niese was waived/injured during final roster cuts.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars — OL SIC Score: 70.4

Jacksonville enters the 2026 season with the fourth-lowest OL SIC Score in the NFL at 70.4, with injuries affecting both the projected starting lineup and offensive line depth.

The biggest absence is projected starting right guard Patrick Mekari, who underwent a back procedure in August and will begin the season on injured reserve with a designation to return. Mekari will miss at least the first four games before becoming eligible to return.

The Jaguars have also lost two offensive linemen for the season. Sam Mustipher and Garrett DiGiorgio are both on season-ending injured reserve.

There is encouraging news with Cole Van Lanen, who has been working back from the knee injury he suffered late last season. Van Lanen was activated from the PUP list late in training camp and has returned to practice, with head coach Liam Coen saying this week that he has looked good. His Week 1 availability has not yet been confirmed.

5. Los Angeles Chargers — OL SIC Score: 72.8

The Chargers enter the 2026 season with the fifth-lowest OL SIC Score in the NFL at 72.8, with a season-ending injury at center forcing significant changes along the interior offensive line.

The biggest loss is Tyler Biadasz, who suffered ACL damage and additional injuries to his left knee during a joint training camp practice with the San Francisco 49ers. Biadasz was placed on season-ending injured reserve and will miss the entire 2026 season.

The Chargers will also begin the season without Branson Taylor, who was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return. He will miss at least the first four games.

With Biadasz out, rookie second-round pick Jake Slaughter has moved into the starting center role. Slaughter had previously competed at left guard but shifted his focus to center following Biadasz's injury.

The Chargers' offensive line is also entering 2026 with Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt returning from season-ending injuries in 2025. Slater missed the entire season after suffering a torn patellar tendon during training camp, while Alt was limited to six games after suffering a significant ankle injury. Both tackles have returned for 2026, but their recent injury history adds important context to Los Angeles' OL SIC Score.
