The CFB Cinderella team, the TCU Horned Frogs, is heading to the CFB National Championship game. But their foe is one to be wary of.
TCU head coach Sonny Dykes spoke about the matchup when the team landed in Los Angeles.
“They know what they’ve done to get ready to play well, and we’ll do the same things here,” said Dykes, whose team arrived via an American Airlines charter.
The Georgia Bulldogs, the reigning national champions, are a 12.5-point favorite against TCU.
One of the biggest reasons behind the colossal betting line is the injury to Kendre Miller.
Miller is a star running back for the Horned Frogs, who had a knee injury after being pulled down awkwardly in the third quarter against Michigan.
Miller led the Horned Frogs in rushing with 1,399 yards (15th in the nation) and 17 touchdowns (Tied for 8th in the nation). In the team’s game against Michigan, he had 57 yards on eight carries.
According to our Pro Football Docs, Miller suffered a mild right MCL sprain against Michigan. But it’s possible that Miller could play with discomfort for one game.
“Kendre did a little bit of work yesterday that he hadn’t done and responded well to it,” Dykes said. “I don’t think his status has changed, he’s still questionable. It depends on how he feels over the next 24 hours. We’ll have a pretty good idea at this time tomorrow.”
If Miller is absent, the Horned Frogs must start backup running back Emari Demercado.
Luckily for TCU, Demercado ran for a season-high 150 yards against a top Michigan defense. The Horned Frogs need one more big game out of their backup running back.
TCU vs. Georgia Odds:
Georgia is favored by 12.5 points against Ohio State, and the over/under is 62.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
