Tampa Bay Buccaneers Suffer Key Injuries to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in Week 7 MNF Loss

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced a difficult loss in Week 7's Monday Night Football matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, falling 41-31. The defeat was compounded by injuries to both of their star wide receivers, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, which could significantly impact the team's performance moving forward.

Mike Evans - SIC Health Score 49

Mike Evans, the Bucs' leading receiver, exited the game with a hamstring injury during the 2nd quarter. Evans has been instrumental in the Buccaneers' offense, and his absence could limit Tampa Bay's ability to stretch the field. Head coach Todd Bowles told reporters on Tuesday that Evans won't return until after the team's Week 11 bye week.

Our in-game analysis was that this injury was a re-aggravation of the right hamstring injury he came into MNF with. Evans had entered the game with a hamstring strain, missing both Thursday and Friday practices.

Chris Godwin Carted Off the Field

On the Bucs' final drive of the game, wide receiver Chris Godwin sustained what was described as a dislocated ankle. He was carted off the field, leaving the team with a significant hole in their receiving corps. Godwin has been a reliable target for Tampa Bay, and his injury raises concerns about his ability to return this season.

Our in-game analysis by video was that this is a severe left high ankle fracture/dislocation, reminiscent of Dak Prescott injury that ended his season a few years ago. This significant injury will require surgery and will end his season.

The injuries to both Evans and Godwin come at a crucial time in the season, and the Buccaneers will need to rely on depth at wide receiver to compensate for their absence.

Stay tuned for more updates from Pro Football Doc on these injuries.
