Bengals Continue to Be a Funnel Defense vs Tight Ends

The Cincinnati Bengals have been unable to defend tight ends for nearly two full seasons, and nothing has changed heading into this matchup. Their scheme continues to struggle with seam routes and intermediate middle-of-the-field coverage, making opposing tight ends a consistent source of production. Week after week, Cincinnati allows high catch rates and clean releases at the second level, creating a reliable betting angle.

That vulnerability showed up clearly just a few weeks ago against Baltimore. Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely both cleared their receiving yard props with ease, repeatedly finding space against linebackers and safeties who simply could not match up. The Bengals were unable to adjust, and the Ravens leaned into tight end usage once the mismatch became obvious.

Injury Context Favors More Tight End Targets

This matchup again sets up well for Baltimore’s tight ends due to injury circumstances on the perimeter. Wide receiver Rashod Bateman is nursing an ankle injury, and even if he suits up, his effectiveness and snap load could be compromised. Any limitation to Bateman only increases the likelihood that Lamar Jackson leans on the most reliable and healthy parts of the passing game — his tight ends.

Andrews remains Jackson’s most trusted target in high-leverage situations, while Likely has carved out a meaningful role as a secondary option. Cincinnati’s defensive profile, combined with Bateman’s injury status, points toward another concentrated target distribution to the middle of the field.

-Betting Card-

Mark Andrews O39.5 receiving yards
Isaiah Likely O36.5 receiving yards

Given Cincinnati’s long-standing issues defending tight ends, recent head-to-head results, and the current injury landscape for Baltimore’s wide receivers, both props are positioned to cash again.
