Bears’ Injury Opens the Door for Loveland to Smash His Receiving Prop
After a slow start to the season, Bears TE Colston Loveland has steadily developed into a featured weapon in Chicago’s passing attack. His role has expanded week-by-week, and now the opportunity for volume is even clearer with WR Rome Odunze ruled out due to a stress fracture in his foot. With Odunze sidelined, Loveland becomes one of the most reliable—and necessary—targets in this offense.
Loveland had been on a strong run, cashing this receiving prop in five straight games before falling short last week. That brief dip wasn’t a regression in usage; it was strictly a result of game script. Chicago jumped out to a big lead, leaned heavily on the run game, and never needed to push the ball through the air.
This week sets up much differently. With Odunze unavailable, the Bears’ target distribution narrows, and Loveland’s role naturally grows. He continues to run a high number of routes, maintains a strong snap share, and has established trustworthy chemistry with the quarterback. A number this low simply doesn’t reflect his importance to the Bears’ offense.
