In recent years, acclimation injuries in the NFL have become an all-too-familiar sight, especially in the early part of the season.
The rapid transition from training camp to the regular season, coupled with the reduced participation of star players in the preseason, has contributed to this trend. In the current NFL season, several prominent players have fallen victim to these nagging injuries, and we'll delve into their timelines and severity here.
Injury: Hamstring
Timeline: Kupp reaggravated his hamstring injury in practice a week before the start of the NFL season.
Impact: He has been placed on IR, which will cause him to miss at least four games while recovering from a hamstring strain that has lingered from the preseason.
Injury: Hamstring
Timeline: Waller popped up on last Friday’s injury report with a hamstring issue.
Impact: Waller was hampered by a hamstring injury last season. He played last week against the Dallas Cowboys but wasn’t effective. He will play in Week 2.
Injury: Hamstring
Timeline: Jeudy suffered a hamstring injury on Aug. 24.
Impact: Jeudy has missed a bunch of time with acclimation injuries in his career, but will make his season debut in W2 against the Commanders. He was a game-time decision last week, but missed the loss against the Raiders.
Injury: Calf
Timeline: Conner suffered a calf injury against the Washington Commanders in Week 1.
Impact: He finished the game, was limited on Wednesday and Thursday then was full on Friday. He has no game status for Week 2, meaning he will suit up.
Injury: Hamstring
Timeline: Johnson suffered a hamstring injury against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1.
Impact: Johnson is expected to miss about four weeks despite not being put on IR. His past hamstring injuries may have contributed to his lengthy absence.
Injury: Hamstring
Timeline: Dulcich suffered a hamstring injury in practice before Week 1.
Impact: Dulcich will be out a couple of weeks with a hamstring strain, so look for backup TE Adam Trautman to see increased usage in his absence.
Injury: Hamstring
Timeline: Watson suffered a hamstring injury in practice before Week 1.
Impact: Watson missed Week 1 and is unlikely to play in Week 2. He has a higher chance of playing in Week 3 based on his progress at practice.
Injury: Hamstring
Timeline: Jones suffered a hamstring injury against the Chicago Bears in Week 1.
Impact: Jones pulled up on a touchdown run and grabbed his hamstring. He did not return to the game and has not practiced this week, which indicates that he will miss Week 2.
