Ravens' Kyle Hamilton Injury Update: Neck Stinger or Concussion Scare?

Baltimore Ravens Safety Kyle Hamilton went down in the NFL Week 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles after taking direct contact to his head from Eagles Tight End Dallas Goedert, which caused his head to jolt backward. Initially, he pointed to his left shoulder and was checked for a concussion before ultimately returning to the game. This incident could be linked to a pre-existing condition, as Hamilton has previously been listed on the injury report for neck issues.

The injury may have involved radicular nerve pain radiating into his left shoulder, similar to a neck stinger. This could have been aggravated by the forceful blow from the receiver coming off the line of scrimmage. Such neck-related issues can mimic or overlap with concussion symptoms, which might have prompted additional caution during the evaluation process.

The concussion check was likely initiated by the "eye in the sky," a system designed to ensure player safety by flagging potential head injuries. The call from above was needed due to the way he fell after being bumped in the head. This would explain why Hamilton was cleared to return after being evaluated. The situation highlights the importance of post-game transparency, as findings like these often require further explanation—similar to how referees must clarify their decisions to pool reporters.

Stay tuned for more updates on Kyle Hamilton this week.
