Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams is expected to miss six to 10 weeks with a hamstring injury suffered during Sunday's 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
The injury appeared to occur late in the fourth quarter as Adams was running a route toward the end zone. He hopes to return toward the beginning of the projected recovery window, potentially shortly after the Rams' Week 11 bye.
Pro Football Doc: Davante Adams' Hamstring Injury
According to Pro Football Doc, Dr. David Chao, Adams suffered an unusual distal medial hamstring tendon avulsion near the inside of his knee.
Chao explained that the injury involves the pes anserinus, an area where multiple tendons converge near the knee, rather than a typical hamstring muscle strain.
"There is no surgery to reattach it," Chao said, explaining that the injured tendon needs time to heal. He noted that tendon resection is sometimes performed to accelerate recovery, although surgery is not necessarily required.
Chao expects Adams to land on injured reserve but believes a return this season remains possible, with a more realistic timeline pointing closer to December.
