Los Angeles Rams star wideout Puka Nacua sustained what was diagnosed as a left ankle injury in Sunday’s 17–3 win over Baltimore. Head coach Sean McVay confirmed after the game that Nacua had hurt his ankle while attempting a catch in the end zone, though he was able to return in a limited role down the stretch for 5 plays, mostly playing decoy. Despite finishing the contest, his availability for the Rams’ Week 7 showdown in London against the Jaguars is considered to be doubtful by our own ProFootball Doc.
Will Rams Puka Nacua play next week? Or will his foot injury keep him out? Here's what @ProFootballDoc saw on video...
The ankle injury suffered today could be a strain of the peroneal muscle, as Puka was seen testing that out on the sidelines. While Nacua’s toughness was on display today, his injury history suggests a cautious approach is warranted. A serious ankle injury is new territory for him, but in the NFL, he’s previously had stints with knee injuries, including a PCL sprain that cost him significant time back in 2024, when he missed Weeks 2 through 7.
Given the location of the injury (ankle), his prior sensitivity to lower-leg and knee trauma, and the Rams’ need to manage their star receiver’s long-term health, it would be prudent for the team to hold Nacua out of the Week 7 London game as a precaution. With the travel, field conditions, and one-week ramp-up, rushing him back might risk further damage. Barring a fast recovery and encouraging medical reports, odds favor him sitting out in London to ensure he’s truly ready when he returns.
