Dr. David Chao, Pro Football Doc, joined Jim Rome's newest podcast “Big Head Bets” recently to talk injuries ahead of Week 1.
Here's what they talked about.
The third-year running back is still recovering from his ACL tear last season and Pro Football Doc firmly believes he will not play Week 1.
October may be a more realistic timeline for him to return and be effective.
Lamar Jackson said this week “we hope he'll be out in a couple weeks.”
Left tackle Ronnie Stanley will miss Week 1 with a left ankle injury that has lingered from last season. The Ravens also have several players out or unlikely to be effective on defense, as seen in the game's field view:
The veteran Saints wideout received a SIC score improvement from 59 to 77 based on his ankle recovery progress, but is now questionable with a hamstring injury.
His quarterback, Jameis Winston, is also making his way back from an ACL tear last season. He may be limited to just pocket passing until he's back to 100%.
The star Buccaneers wideout is vying to play Week 1 just 9 months into his ACL tear recovery, but only recently removed a bulky knee brace he had been practicing with.
He also wore an orange non-contact jersey at practice this week and is likely still a few weeks away from beginning to run routes effectively.
