Phillies Injury Report: Alec Bohm Leaves With Finger Injury, Chance To Avoid IL Stint

Phillies' third baseman Alec Bohm suffered an apparent left ring finger injury in the second inning of tonight's game, but avoided a fracture.

Alec Bohm Injury Update

Based on initial video embedded below, Bohm suffered a dislocated finger with the bone potentially poking through the skin.

However, since X-rays were negative, there is potential that Bohm could avoid the 10-day IL.

This was best-case scenario for the 25-year-old. His recovery will require cleaning of the wound and re-setting the bone, but he could return soon after Philadelphia's upcoming series in Toronto.

Bohm is one of four Phillies on the restricted list because they are unvaccinated and can't cross the Canadian border.

Bohm suffered the injury when his finger caught the front of the base sliding into second.

He immediately signaled to the training staff and can be seen mouthing “its broke” as the trainer covers the gruesome hand injury with a towel.

The Docs always say to “judge the injury, not the reaction,” and that proved to be the case with Bohm.

The 6'5" former No. 3 overall pick is batting .271 with six home runs, 33 RBI, and 41 runs in 303 at-bats as Philadelphia's everyday third baseman.

Teammates Bryce Harper and Jean Segura remain on IL, but the Phillies are 9-5 since Harper's injury.
