Paul George Injury: Clippers Guard Likely Done for Season After Exit vs. Thunder

Update: Unfortunately, the analysis from our panel of doctors has been confirmed. George will be reevaluated in 2-3 weeks after suffering a right knee hyperextension with a PCL sprain and likely bone bruise. His regular season is done and he will only appear in the postseason if the Clippers make a deep run.

Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George suffered a significant right knee injury in Tuesday night’s 101-100 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

By video, George suffered a right knee hyperextension with worry for at least a partial ligament tear involving the PCL, according to the Pro Basketball Docs. George also likely suffered a bone bruise which will require weeks to heal.

He will undergo an MRI soon to evaluate the damage. There’s hope he can avoid surgery, but his regular season is likely finished.

With the first round of the playoffs starting April 15, George will not be available unless the Clippers make a deep run.

George suffered the injury on a rebound when his right knee was inadvertently bumped by Thunder guard Lu Dort.

He limped to the locker room with the help of two trainers and did not return.

After the game, head coach Ty Lue said George was still being evaluated. George reportedly left the arena on the back of a cart with his right leg extended.

The Clippers (38-35) currently hold the No. 5 spot in the Western Conference with 9 games remaining. Los Angeles is a game up on the sixth-place Warriors and a game-and-a-half up on the Thunder and Dallas Mavericks.

George, in his 13th season in the league and fourth with the Clippers, leads the team in scoring with 23.9 points per game on 45.6% shooting from the field and 37.5% from 3-point range.

Recent addition Russell Westbrook may be in line for a bigger offensive role along with Eric Gordon and Norman Powell.

Los Angeles Clipper NBA Finals Odds

As of Tuesday night, the Clippers had the eighth best odds to win the finals at +2300, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Milwaukee Bucks are the favorites at +280 followed by the Celtics at +320.
