Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love was available but did not start in Week 18 after missing Week 17 with a concussion. Love suffered the concussion in Week 16 against the Chicago Bears and was sidelined the following week.

With Green Bay locked into the No. 7 seed in the NFC entering the regular-season finale, Love served as the backup in Week 18 rather than being pushed back into action.

Dr. David Chao, Pro Football Doc, said Love was medically cleared and could have played if necessary.

“Well, Jordan Love was cleared because he was on the active roster,” Chao said. “He was the backup, so you were expecting him to be 100 percent if he needed to start. That was simply rest — not taking a chance.”

Chao noted that circumstances could have forced Love into the game if injuries mounted.

“If Clayton Tune had gotten injured, Love would have been the next man up and gone back into the game,” Chao said. “They would have hated that scenario, but it was possible.”

Green Bay managed several injuries late in the season, including Malik Willis dealing with his own issue and running back Josh Jacobs continuing to play through a knee injury.

“Jacobs has also been playing through a knee injury,” Chao said. “He’s going to push through, even though he hasn’t looked fully effective.”

The Packers now turn their attention to a postseason rematch with the Bears after the two teams split their regular-season series. In Week 14, Love delivered one of his strongest performances of the year against Chicago, throwing for 234 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in a Green Bay victory.
