Cam Skattebo - Leg

Cam Skattebo is undergoing surgery after what appears to be a tibia fracture dislocation, not just an ankle dislocation. According to Dr. David Chao, the concern with this type of injury is the potential for an open wound, which makes it an orthopedic emergency due to the risk of infection.

Dr. Chao notes that the situation is not being compared to Alex Smith’s severe case involving infection, but the fracture pattern is similar to injuries sustained by Smith and Aidan Hutchinson — both of whom made strong recoveries. Skattebo is expected to have surgery to clean the area and stabilize the injury, with optimism for a full recovery once healed.

Saquon Barkley - Groin

Saquon Barkley appeared to suffer a left groin strain, but Dr. David Chao believes it’s not significant. Barkley left the game largely due to the score and timing, with the bye week coming at a perfect time. Known for playing through injuries, Barkley is expected to avoid missed time and should be ready to go after the break.

Quinshon Judkins - Shoulder

Judkins appears to have suffered a right shoulder AC joint sprain, and with the bye week ahead, resting instead of playing through it was the smart call. Dr. David Chao also noted that Joe Flacco had a similar incident with the Bengals, likely an AC joint sprain to his right shoulder after being driven to the ground late in the game. He briefly left for evaluation but returned, suggesting he may have received X-rays and an injection before finishing the game.

Patrick Surtain - Shoulder/Pec

By video, Patrick Surtain appears to have suffered a left pectoral injury. Dr. David Chao notes it’s unclear whether it’s a pec muscle strain — which would be good news and only require rest — or a pec tendon tear, which would likely mean surgery and a long recovery. The key question is whether the injury involves the muscle or the tendon. (update: Surtain II is expected to miss several games due to a left pectoral strain and could be placed on injured reserve)

Trey Hendrickson - Hip

Trey Hendrickson reaggravated his hip injury after trying to play through it and was unable to finish the game. Dr. David Chao notes that when a player returns too soon and can’t complete the game, it usually signals a longer recovery ahead. The situation is a setback for both Hendrickson and the Bengals, who suffered a tough loss that could have evened their record at 4–4.

Ed Oliver - Bicep

Ed Oliver left the game with a suspected biceps injury, which Dr. David Chao believes could be a biceps tendon tear. If confirmed, Oliver would likely need surgery and miss significant time, potentially landing on injured reserve. A late-season or playoff return could still be possible depending on the severity.
