As we wrap up Week 18 tonight with Sunday Night Football and look towards Wildcard Weekend of the 2024 NFL season, several players suffered injuries this week which will impact their playoff hopes.
At SICscore.com, we provide expert insights from Dr. David Chao, MD (@ProFootballDoc) and other top sports doctors to help fans and analysts understand the impact of these injuries on the player and team.
By video, Jordan Love suffered a right elbow contusion, possible funny bone hit (ulnar nerve), no structural worry, expect to be good to go next week for playoffs, officially questionable to return today, similar to Josh Allen and Brock Purdy injuries.
The only issue is if he'll have full sensory and motor function, he will continue to be monitored.
Jalen Hurts hasn't cleared protocol as of yet, the biggest day for him is Wednesday, if he logs no practice time before then or on Wednesday, it won't look good for his chances to play on Sunday vs the Packers, he will continue to be monitored.
Zay Flowers suffered a right knee LCL sprain in the 2nd quarter of Week 18 game against the Browns, left the game and did not return, awaiting MRI results to confirm severity. Will likely miss the first Ravens playoff game on Saturday vs the Steelers.
Tee Higgins played Week 18 with a left high ankle injury after exiting in the second half of Saturday's 19-17. Should the Bengals make the playoffs we expect him to continue to play through the injury.
Significant long-term worry for Christian Watson, it is the same right knee he's injured before and went down on a non-contact injury while running a route, has officially been ruled out.
Update January 6, NFL Network Ian Rapoport reported that Watson is believed to have sustained a torn right ACL and additional damage to his knee during Sunday's loss to the Bears, ending his playoff run and putting in jeopardy the start of the 2025 campaign.
Isaac Guerendo ruled out with an injury today, rolled up on and injured his knee, he came into the game with listed foot and hamstring injuries. We don't this injury impacting his 2025 NFL season.
Brandon Coleman sustained a right MCL injury today, he could return with brace, but unlikely with playoffs next week.
Rashawn Slater felt discomfort in his knee during warm-ups and was listed in the Inactives Coach Jim Harbaugh decided to sit his star offensive lineman.
