As we wrap up Week 15 tonight with a Monday Night Football doubleheader and look towards Week 16 of the 2024 NFL season, several teams are struggling with key injuries that will impact their playoff hopes. In addition this week we saw several injuries that impact key Fantasy Football players as we get deeper into the Fantasy Football playoffs,
At SICscore.com, we provide expert insights from Dr. David Chao, MD (@ProFootballDoc) and other top sports doctors to help fans and analysts understand the impact of these injuries on the player and team.
Tests confirm for Patrick Mahomes a mild high ankle sprain in his right ankle and is considered week-to-week, the Chiefs play two games in the next nine days with the division locked up and a 2-game lead on Buffalo, Mahomes will likely sit on Saturday with Christmas Day W17 is more likely
Geno Smith exited Sunday's game in the second half with a knee injury, by video we couldn't see a specific injury, the hope is he's more hurt than injured, he will undergo tests on Monday to determine the exact nature of the injury.
David Montgomery is out indefinitely after sustaining an MCL injury on Sunday, he will undergo further testing and seek a second opinion before an official determination could be made but there's a chance his season is done.
Alvin Kamara suffered a groin injury, for a speedy running back it means his chances are low of coming back. If the Saints were in better playoff positioning, he could go but will need to be monitored more closely this week.
Nick Chubb made a remarkable recovery from a devastating knee injury a year ago, he wasn't 100% but he did overperform our expectations, the stress fracture in his foot is unfortunate but expect Chubb to be back 100% by the start of next season.
Kenneth Walker did not play in Week 15 against the Packers after being a DNP all week and listed as Doubtful. He will continue to be monitored this week ahead of an important game against the Vikings on Sunday.
A.J. Brown sustained a left ankle injury on a hip drop tackle, luckily by video he avoids major injury as his foot was not planted at the moment of injury, will continue to monitor for a more official determination of his status
Jaylen Waddle sustained a right high ankle injury in the first half of Sunday's game, exited game and will be monitored for updates.
George Pickens has a Grade 2 hamstring injury and did not play vs the Eagles in Week 15 after not practicing last week. His availability for Week 16 will also be in question.
It is a little worrisome that Cedric Tillman has missed three games due to a concussion. Last week he only logged LP at practice each day, likely has lingering symptoms keeping him in the protocol.
