The New York Giants enter mandatory minicamp with significant injury questions surrounding several key contributors. Wide receiver Malik Nabers is expected to miss minicamp as he continues recovering from ACL and meniscus surgery, while rookie running back Cam Skattebo remains weeks away from full clearance following a devastating ankle injury. Veteran left tackle Andrew Thomas is also being brought along cautiously as training camp approaches.
Malik Nabers - ACL
Nabers remains sidelined as he continues recovering from the ACL and meniscus tear he suffered during the 2025 season. Nabers underwent a second knee procedure in February to address stiffness related to the initial repair and is expected to miss minicamp. Pro Football Doc believes Nabers is unlikely to be ready for the start of the 2026 season and could begin the year on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
Cam Skattebo - Ankle
Skattebo remains in the final stages of his recovery from the devastating right ankle injury that ended his 2025 season, which included a dislocation, fibula fracture, and deltoid ligament rupture that required emergency surgery. Skattebo has not participated in Giants OTAs but has been seen on the field wearing a helmet and has acknowledged he is still several weeks away from full clearance. Pro Football Doc expects Skattebo to be fully cleared and ready for Week 1 of the 2026 season.
Andrew Thomas - Foot/Shoulder
Thomas continues to be managed carefully by the Giants after an injury-filled 2025 season. The veteran left tackle appeared in 13 games, missing the first two while recovering from a Lisfranc foot injury and the final two after suffering a hamstring strain in Week 16. Thomas was held out of portions of OTAs for maintenance purposes due to ongoing foot and shoulder issues. He described the shoulder injury as "lingering" but said it is currently in a good place.
Darius Slayton - Core Surgery
Slayton is recovering from core muscle surgery that he underwent following the 2025 season and is expected to miss the Giants' offseason program. Head coach John Harbaugh said the decision was made to address the issue surgically for long-term health rather than continue managing it. Slayton is expected to be fully cleared and ready for the start of training camp in July.
Roy Robertson-Harris - Achilles
Robertson-Harris suffered a torn Achilles during Giants OTAs in May and is expected to miss the entire 2026 season. The veteran defensive lineman sustained the injury during a team practice session and will now face a lengthy rehabilitation process.
Gunner Olszewski - Achilles
Olszewski, a premier return man and depth wide receiver, became the third player on the Giants to suffer a torn Achilles during Giants OTAs and will be out for the season. With Nabers already hampered, the Giants receiving depth is something to keep an eye on.
