With the calendar flipping toward the end of January, the NBA season has reached the point where urgency begins to replace experimentation. As the Super Bowl approaches and the February 5 trade deadline looms, teams are no longer managing injuries in a vacuum. They’re weighing health, availability, and roster direction in real time. This is the stretch where durability and depth carry as much weight as star power, and where availability, not just talent, increasingly separates true contenders from teams forced to recalibrate.
Kawhi Leonard - Los Angeles Clippers
The left knee issue continues to linger for Leonard, though he has appeared in two straight outings following a three-game absence. The team will presumably monitor him closely in shootaround and warmups before determining if he'll suit up Tuesday night.
Aaron Gordon - Denver Nuggets
Gordon exited Friday's win over Milwaukee after aggravating his right hamstring injury and is expected to miss multiple games as a result. He missed all of December with the ailment.
Stephen Curry - Golden State Warriors
Curry will take a seat for the second half of his team's back-to-back due to right patellofemoral inflammation, though there is no indication it’s a serious injury, most likely a maintenance concern.
Jonathan Kuminga - Golden State Warriors
Officially has been diagnosed with a bone bruise and will be re-evaluated in the coming days. No other official timeline has been released by the team.
Ja Morant - Memphis Grizzlies
Sustained a sprained UCL in his elbow and will be re-evaluated in three weeks. Since he's not scheduled to be re-evaluated for three weeks, Morant looks safe to rule out through the All-Star break.
