Now into the new calendar year, the NBA season officially turns the corner from early-season rhythm to the grind that tests depth, durability, and decision-making. As teams pivot toward the heart of the schedule, injury management becomes just as important as matchup strategy making this the point where availability, not just talent, starts to define contenders and pretenders.

Zach Edey - Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies continue to be thin at center with the announcement of Zach Edey being out an additional six weeks from the stress reaction in his left ankle. After Edey initially sustained the injury Dec. 11, the Grizzlies relayed that the second-year center would be shut down for at least four weeks before being re-evaluated. Despite having spent the past month rehabbing the injury, Edey seemingly hasn't taken any major steps forward in his recovery and will now need another six weeks to let his ankle heal up.

Brandon Clarke - Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies announced Wednesday that Clarke is progressing well in his recovery from a Grade 2 right calf strain and is expected to return to action in 4-to-6 weeks. Clarke suffered the injury Dec. 20 and has already missed the Grizzlies' last 11 games.

Domantas Sabonis - Sacramento Kings

Is expected to make his return to the lineup this weekend after dealing with a partial meniscus tear.

Jalen Brunson - New York Knicks

Brunson sat out Thursday's loss to the Warriors after spraining his right ankle five minutes into Wednesday's loss in Sacramento. The Knicks lost three of four games during their recent road trip but return home Saturday. If Brunson is sidelined for a second straight game, Miles McBride would likely draw another start. He is listed as questionable for Saturday's game vs the Suns.

Cooper Flagg - Dallas Mavericks

Flagg missed his first game on Thursday with a sprained ankle sustained earlier in the week. It was his first absence since Nov. 19 and just his second of his rookie season. Flagg's next chance to return will arrive Saturday, also against Utah.

Anthony Davis - Dallas Mavericks

Per Mavericks PR Davis met with his physician today and underwent a medical evaluation of the ligament damage to his left hand. He does not require surgery and is expected to heal from the injury in approximately six weeks.

Jerami Grant - Portland Trailblazers

He has missed time lately with an Achilles injury. Grant sat out his 14th straight game Tuesday, but this was the first time he received the "doubtful" tag since going down, which indicates progress. His next chance to play will come Thursday versus the Hawks.

Kawhi Leonard - Los Angeles Clippers

Listed As Questionable for Wednesday’s game vs Washington. Leonard has managed to overcome the ankle issue that plagued the past few games. However, considering the upcoming match against the 10-28 Wizards, it wouldn’t be surprising if the 34-year-old veteran decides to take a rest.

Bennedict Mathurin - Indiana Pacers

Has been out since January 4th with a thumb injury. Coach Rick Carlisle stated on January 4 that Mathurin would be out for an extended period. However, the Pacers have not provided any updates regarding Mathurin’s return timeline since then. It’s possible that Mathurin’s condition is being evaluated on a weekly basis, which could make him doubtful to play against the Pelicans on Friday.

Zaccharie Risacher - Atlanta Hawks

Risacher at out Tuesday's game against the Lakers due to left knee inflammation. Tuesday marks a third straight absence for Risacher, whose next opportunity to play comes Thursday in Portland.
