The NBA season is a marathon, not a sprint. Every week brings new twists in the ongoing battle between talent and durability. From nagging soreness to major setbacks, injuries shape rotations, influence playoff hopes, and redefine team dynamics across the league. Each week, Sports Injury Central breaks down the latest updates, timelines, and recovery outlooks for players around the association, providing expert insight into how health trends could impact both the short-term box scores and the long-term championship picture.

Austin Reaves - Los Angeles Lakers

Reaves aggravated the left calf strain he had previously been out with on Christmas Day and an MRI did confirm a Grade 2 calf strain and he will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

Anthony Davis - Dallas Mavericks

Sustained a groin injury during the Christmas Day game vs Warriors and exited before halftime. He has been diagnosed with a minor groin and will miss the next few games.

Luka Doncic - Los Angeles Lakers

Luka exited Saturday’s game vs the Clippers at halftime and did not return with a left calf contusion. He was visibly favoring the left calf throughout the second quarter. Luka does have a history with calf strains including the strain that caused him to miss most of the middle of the season last year before he was traded to the Lakers. The severity of the injury is unclear, but if there is some good news for the Lakers, it's that the team is off until Dec. 23

Ivaca Zubac - Los Angeles Clippers

Zubac sustained a Grade 2 left ankle sprain during the Clippers' 103-88 win over the Lakers on Saturday and is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks. Zubac sustained the injury in the first quarter of Saturday's game, and further tests diagnosed the veteran center with a Grade 2 ankle sprain. The injury will keep him sidelined through mid-January.

Jerami Grant - Portland Trailblazers

Grant is day-to-day with soreness in his Achilles. He was unable to play Saturday against the Kings and is listed as questionable for Monday’s game vs the Pistons.

Lauri Markkanen - Utah Jazz

Markkanen is questionable for Monday's game against the Nuggets with a groin strain. Markkanen has missed the past two games for Utah, but he remains day-to-day. Monday's game is the front end of a back-to-back set, so it's possible Markkanen may miss one of these for maintenance reasons.

Ja Morant - Memphis Grizzlies

Morant won't play Monday against the Thunder with an ankle injury. Memphis’s star player is considered highly questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Jazz because he hasn’t returned to practice yet.
