The NBA season is a marathon, not a sprint. Every week brings new twists in the ongoing battle between talent and durability. From nagging soreness to major setbacks, injuries shape rotations, influence playoff hopes, and redefine team dynamics across the league. Each week, Sports Injury Central breaks down the latest updates, timelines, and recovery outlooks for players around the association, providing expert insight into how health trends could impact both the short-term box scores and the long-term championship picture.
Giannis Antetokounmpo - Milwaukee Bucks
Giannis Antetokounmpo will miss an estimated 2–4 weeks after suffering a right calf strain during the first quarter of the Bucks’ recent matchup against the Pistons. The injury occurred on a non-contact play, and while he was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game, early evaluations fortunately indicated no damage to the Achilles.
Wednesday Update
Zion Williamson - New Orleans Pelicans
Williamson is dealing with a right adductor injury, and he's now facing his second extended absence of the season. He will be re-evaluated in three weeks. He may not see a return until January.
Devin Booker - Phoenix Suns
Diagnosed with a groin strain on Monday vs the Los Angeles Lakers. He will be re-evaluated in one weeks, however, given the nature of groin injuries the possiblity of missing more time beyond one week is highly probable.
Jalen Williams - Oklahoma City Thunder
Made his return from an offseason wrist surgery on November 28th. He resumed his usual rotation and has averaged 16pts, 5reb & 6.3ast per game on an average of 32 minutes each game.
DeAndre Ayton - Los Angeles Lakers
Exited today’s game when he knocked knees with Yves MIssi and asked out of the game, not to return due to the game being a blowout. The Lakers have a second leg of a back-to-back on Monday vs the Phoenix Suns and it remains to be seen if he’ll play yet or not. He may be a decision after shoot around in the morning.
Andre Drummond - Philadelphia 76ers
Exited Sunday’s game with right knee soreness and did not return. Drummond came into Sunday's game dealing with a right knee contusion, and head coach Nick Nurse said postgame that soreness reemerged in the knee, causing Drummond to be ruled out for the second half of the game.
Dennis Schroder - Sacramento Kings
Has missed three consecutive games due to a right hip strain. Russell Westbrook, Malik Monk and Keon Ellis are candidates for increased playing time with Schroder sidelined.
Nikola Jokic - Denver Nuggets
Jokic is probable for Monday’s game vs Dallas with a left wrist strain. Jokic has been dealing with a wrist sprain lately, but he has yet to miss a game this season and is likely to play Monday. Over his last five appearances, Jokic has averaged 28.4 points, 10.4 assists, 10.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 35.4 minutes per contest.
LaMelo Ball - Charlotte Hornets
Ball is not on the Hornets injury list as he makes his return from an ankle injury. Ball has had his minutes monitored while working through an ankle injury, but the sixth-year pro has been given the green light to play.
