Corbin Carroll - Hand

Carroll, who is recovering from a broken hamate bone, returned as the Diamondbacks’ designated hitter on Wednesday against the Athletics. Carroll returned to game action one month after undergoing surgery on Feb. 11.

Francisco Lindor - Hand

Lindor said he is “100% optimistic” he will be ready for Opening Day after returning to game action Tuesday for the first time since undergoing left hamate surgery. He played four innings in the field in a minor league game at the Mets’ spring training complex.

Jackson Holliday - Hand

Holliday hit 40 balls off a tee Saturday using both hands and said afterward that he expects to begin batting practice within the next week. Holliday is recovering from a broken right hamate bone.

Kyle Teel - Hamstring

Teel is expected to miss four to six weeks with a right hamstring strain after suffering the injury while legging out a double for Italy in its upset win over Team USA on Tuesday.

Hunter Greene - Elbow

Greene will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Wednesday to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his right elbow and is not expected to return until July. The 26-year-old left Cincinnati’s spring training camp in Arizona because of elbow stiffness and underwent imaging after returning home.

Josh Hader - Biceps

Hader will open the season on the injured list, manager Joe Espada said Wednesday. Hader threw his first bullpen session of spring training on Tuesday, felt good afterward and is scheduled to throw a few more times before facing live hitters.

Tarik Skubal - Management

Skubal will return to Tigers camp and not pitch again in the World Baseball Classic for Team USA.

Shane Bieber - Forearm

Bieber has progressed to throwing at 120 feet on flat ground while dealing with right forearm fatigue, but he has still not thrown off a mound.

Jordan Montgomery - Elbow

Montgomery was moved to the 60-day IL. The Rangers signed Montgomery to a one-year deal last month as he continues to recover from his second elbow reconstruction surgery.

Joey Wentz - Leg

Wentz was carted off the field with a right leg injury during Sunday’s game against the Rays, but initial tests gave the Braves hope that the left-hander avoided a serious injury. If Wentz is unavailable for the start of the season, the Braves could turn to veteran Martín Pérez, who has allowed three hits over five innings in two appearances so far.
