Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wide receiver Mike Evans exited Monday's game after taking a hard hit that caused him to strike his head on the turf. According to Dr. David J. Chao (@ProFootballDoc), Evans showed visual signs of a concussion immediately following the play and “there’s no way he could be cleared to return regardless of exam.”
Evans was carted off the field shortly afterward. Dr. Chao noted there was no need for the “red hat” concussion spotter to accompany him, and the Buccaneers medical staff was seen assisting him as he left the field. Chao also observed that Evans appeared to land on his right shoulder, suggesting a possible AC joint injury, though he emphasized that the head is the first concern.
This setback comes just as Evans was returning from a hamstring injury that had sidelined him for the previous three games. The timing is especially unfortunate for Tampa Bay, as Evans’ presence is critical to their passing attack and offensive rhythm.
With concussion protocol and a potential shoulder evaluation now ahead, Evans’ availability for upcoming games remains uncertain. The Buccaneers will likely proceed cautiously given his recent return from injury and his importance to the team’s playoff hopes.
