Highly regarded offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa has emerged as one of the top prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft, with teams closely monitoring his medical evaluations in the final weeks leading up to draft night.

Mauigoa has been a model of durability throughout his college career, starting every game since arriving on campus as a true freshman. He logged 42 consecutive starts, including all 16 games this past season, reinforcing his reputation as a dependable presence on the offensive line.

The 20-year-old previously underwent bilateral shoulder surgery following his freshman season but has not experienced any notable shoulder issues since. More recently, however, teams have turned their attention to a minor back concern that surfaced late in the season.

Mauigoa underwent combine rechecks in Indianapolis for additional imaging on a disc issue that caused some discomfort late in the season. According to reports, the recheck was completed with no new issues or concerns. Even after that follow-up was requested in early March, Mauigoa continued meeting with teams in the top third of the first round, a sign of confidence that the medical questions would be resolved. Despite the issue, he is not considered a candidate for immediate surgery after a full professional medical evaluation.

Mauigoa was able to fully participate in his Pro Day and is currently symptom-free, though some teams have requested further evaluation as part of their pre-draft due diligence. With no significant limitations in recent workouts, the additional testing appears precautionary as franchises finalize their draft boards.

Widely viewed as one of the top offensive linemen in this year’s class, Mauigoa has been projected to be taken at the top half of the first round and has been mocked as high as No. 2 overall. If his medical evaluations remain stable, he is expected to be among the top-10 selections.
