Lightning Injury Report: Brayden Point Suffers Right Leg Injury, Returns To Bench

Tampa Bay Lighting center forward Brayden Point left Saturday's Game 7 in the first period after suffering an upper right leg injury.

Brayden Point Injury Update

Point went down on the ice grabbing at his right hip and outer groin region after awkwardly twisting trying to gain possession of the puck.

Based on video, the ProHockeyDocs are concerned that Point suffered a right hip flexor strain or proximal quad tear.

The injury will knock him out of the contentious Game 7 against the Maple Leafs and he would be hard-pressed to return in the second round if they are able to advance without one of their best players.

Point was back on the bench at the open of the second period but has yet to re-enter the contest.

Point scored the game-winning overtime goal in Game 6 to push the series to the winner-take-all contest. The 26-year-old scored a combined 56 points in the last two postseasons on the way to hoisting the Stanley Cup two years in a row.
