Maple Leafs Auston Matthews Likely Out Game 7 Due To Injury

Auston Matthews, the Toronto Maple Leafs' star forward, is facing a challenging situation that casts doubt on his participation in the pivotal Game 7 of their series. Video analysis by our panel of Pro Sports Docs suggests Matthews suffered a right MCL sprain, compounded by a possible patellar subluxation. Such injuries are serious for any athlete, particularly one whose role and performance rely heavily on speed and agility.

Complicating the narrative around Matthews' health is the official listing of his condition as an 'illness' for the games he missed following the injury. While it's plausible that Matthews is indeed battling an illness, the timing and nature of the reported illness might suggest a strategic move by the Maple Leafs to manage information about their key player’s fitness.

As the Maple Leafs have pushed the series to a seventh game, speculation about Matthews' ability to contribute if they advance grows. Given the nature of his knee injury, it appears increasingly unlikely that he would be able to suit up in the next round if the Leafs advance. The combination of an MCL sprain and patellar issues typically demands a cautious approach to rehabilitation meaning Matthews will likely not suit up anytime soon.
