Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson left Sunday's game against the Titans before halftime with a left ankle injury and has been listed as questionable to return. Jackson was scrambling when his left ankle was caught underneath a tackler, and limped back to the locker room as the half ended. Early indications point to a mild left high ankle sprain, but the Ravens haven't confirmed a diagnosis. Baltimore held a 24-7 lead at the start of the second half, and Tyler Huntley has taken over at quarterback while Jackson is evaluated.

When a foot is pinned beneath a tackler's weight while the body keeps moving, the ankle can be forced inward, which stresses the ligaments on the outside of the joint. Depending on the grade, that can mean anything from a quick return to a multi-week absence. A quarterback like Jackson, who relies on scrambling, is especially affected, since he may be able to throw but not move freely. Jackson also came into the week on the injury report with a back issue that coach Jesse Minter called minor, and he was removed from the report before the game.

Jackson has a recurring but mostly manageable ankle history. He missed one game with a Grade 1 sprain as a freshman at Louisville in 2015, hurt an ankle in an overtime loss to the Chiefs in December 2018 (X-rays reportedly negative, played the next week), and visited the medical tent against the Bengals in November 2023 before returning the next series. His most significant episode came in December 2021, when he was carted off in Week 14 against the Browns on a right ankle injury, reported at various points as a low ankle sprain, a high ankle sprain, and a bone bruise, and it cost him the final four games of the season. That was the opposite ankle from today's. In 2025, he played through an ankle tweak in Week 12 amid hamstring, knee, toe, and back issues.

Huntley is a familiar fill-in. He made the Pro Bowl in 2022 and again in 2025 while stepping in for an injured Jackson, and the Ravens re-signed him this offseason to a two-year deal. With a comfortable lead, Baltimore has room to be cautious, and their next game is Sunday night, October 11, at Atlanta. Watch for Jackson's designation on the injury report this week, whether he practices, and how the team characterizes the injury.
