UPDATE: McConkey did not return to the game

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey suffered a chest injury during the fourth quarter against the Arizona Cardinals.

McConkey left the game following the injury and was officially listed as questionable to return.

Pro Football Doc on Ladd McConkey's Rib Injury

Pro Football Doc said McConkey took a hit to the left posterior-lateral rib and flank area, raising concern for a rib injury rather than simply having the wind knocked out of him.

McConkey went to the medical tent and later the locker room before being ruled out for the remainder of the game.

“That's more than wind. That's going to be ribs,” Pro Football Doc said.

Pro Football Doc said it remains unclear whether McConkey suffered a rib fracture, but noted that one or multiple fractures are possible.

He also expressed concern about potential internal organ damage because of the location of the hit, including the kidney or spleen.

“Bottom line is, let's see, let's hope for the best,” Pro Football Doc said.

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh did not provide an update on McConkey’s status after the game.

This article will be updated as more information becomes available.
