Kendrick Bourne Eyes Training Camp Return, Recovering From 2023 ACL Tear

Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne is optimistic about his return for training camp after missing all of New England’s offseason activities. Bourne suffered a torn ACL in Week 8 of the 2023 season, sidelining him for the remainder of the year.

Despite his injury, Bourne secured a three-year contract extension with the Patriots, potentially worth up to $33 million.

During OTAs, Bourne spoke confidently about his recovery. “My plan is to play Game 1, and I believe I’m going to be ready,” he said. “Where I’m at right now, I’m on track, ahead of schedule, and I feel good.”

Pro Football Doc supports Bourne's assessment, projecting his readiness for Week 1 of the 2024 season. Given the timing of his injury, Bourne has had ample time to recover. However, similar to Jets wide receiver Mike Williams, Bourne may face early-season challenges as he regains his explosiveness and dynamic cutting ability. We also agree that there is a chance Bourne will be ready for the start of training camp.

For fantasy purposes, Bourne could be a valuable player to stash for the second half of the season and the fantasy playoffs. Despite his injury and New England’s inconsistent quarterback play, Bourne has managed 127 catches, over 1,600 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns in his three seasons with the Patriots.
