All-star center Joel Embiid has missed the 76ers last two games with left foot soreness after he landed on Jaxson Hayes' foot on a block attempt late in Monday's contest.
Doc Rivers said that Philadelphia isn't concerned with Embiid's injury, but that he is uncertain about a firm recovery timeline.
Despite the designation, video of Embiid's injury is consistent with a left ankle inversion sprain, according to the Pro Basketball Docs.
The 28-year-old suffered a similar left foot/ankle injury on November 19th when Georges Niang rolled up on Embiid's legs with the seven-footer trailing behind in transition.
In both cases, Embiid appeared to be in visible discomfort after the injury but he finished the game.
He was diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain , missed four games, returned on November 28th and played in the next 16 games, averaging 34.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists on 54% shooting.
