(Update 4/24: According to reports, Butler has been diagnosed with a deep glute muscle contusion and his status for Game 3 against the Houston Rockets is in serious jeopardy)
Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler exited Game 2 of the first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets after a hard fall in the first quarter. The Warriors announced during the game that Butler suffered a pelvic contusion, and he did not return.
Dr. David Chao, also known as Pro Football Doc, believes the injury should be considered day-to-day. With Game 3 set for Saturday, Dr. Chao believes there is a chance Butler could play with two days off in between games. Butler will be sore after the injury, and if he doesn’t suit up for Game 3, Dr. Chao expects him to return at some point during the series.
Pelvic contusions have become a familiar issue for the Warriors this season. Steph Curry and Jonathan Kuminga both dealt with similar injuries this season. Curry missed two games, and Kuminga missed one. While there's optimism for Butler’s return in Game 3, the team will likely monitor his progress closely before making a final decision.
