The Boston Celtics may have suffered a devastating blow to both their postseason hopes and long-term future. Jayson Tatum left Game 4 with what appeared to be a serious leg injury, and based on video review, Pro Football Doc fears it could be a ruptured Achilles.
If confirmed, the injury would end Tatum’s season immediately and could potentially sideline him for most of next year as well.
The timing couldn’t be worse, as the Celtics now trail 3-1 in the series and face elimination. Tatum has been the team’s engine throughout the playoffs, leading Boston in scoring, rebounds, assists, and steals.
A ruptured Achilles would not only derail the Celtics’ title chase this season but also throw next year’s campaign into question. The team and fans now await official imaging results, hoping for a less severe diagnosis.
After the game Head Coach Joe Mazulla did not give any details of the injury but said Tatum will undergo an MRI on Tuesday.
