Jalen Suggs Injury: SG Likely Out At Least 6 Weeks With Knee Sprain

Second-year Orlando Magic shooting guard Jalen Suggs was helped off the floor on Friday night after suffering a left knee capsule sprain and bone bruise.

Suggs returning in six weeks would be a best-case-scenario for the Magic, according to the Pro Basketball Docs.

Bone bruises require immobility to repair and often extend recovery so Suggs could miss additional time, the Docs said.

Based on initial video, the Docs were concerned Suggs suffered associated LCL or ACL damage, but the MRI reportedly showed he avoided more significant injuries.

A return in six weeks would put Suggs back on the court likely sometimes during a pair of games in Indiana on November 19 and 21, games 17 and 18 of the season.

Suggs appeared to suffer the left knee hyperextension when he planted his foot awkwardly after he was shoved in the back by Spencer Dinwiddie and consequently rolled his ankle outward.

The dynamic guard missed 20 games early in his rookie season after suffering a fractured right thumb on Nov. 29. Suggs underwent right ankle surgery on May 2 to repair a stress fracture that kept him out of 13 of Orlando's last 18 games.

In his 48 games, the No. 5 overall pick averaged 11.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.2 steals on 36.1% shooting.
