Jalen Brunson’s Ankle Injury: How Long Will the Knicks Star Be Sidelined?

New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson suffered a right ankle sprain in overtime in the Knicks loss to the Lakers on Thursday night, raising concerns about his availability moving forward. According to our Pro Docs while the injury initially appeared severe, resembling a Grade 3 sprain, it is behaving more like a mild Grade 1 issue. This suggests that while the sprain looked bad on video, the functional impact may be less significant.

Brunson has dealt with minor issues in the past, but primarily with his right ankle. While he may miss a few games to rest, the Knicks’ strong position in the standings allows them to take a cautious approach. Given their playoff standings and other key players also managing injuries, the team is likely to prioritize long-term health over a quick return.

Our Pro Docs don't view this as a major injury and expect only a short absence. Brunson’s return will depend on swelling, pain tolerance, and how well his ankle responds to treatment. Given the circumstances, the Knicks are expected to play it safe, ensuring he is fully recovered before getting back on the court.
