How Close is J.K. Dobbins to Being 100%?

Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins is trending towards his first game action since his severe left knee injury in preseason 2021, a key step in his return to full strength.

Dobbins spoke recently about the severity of his knee injury, highlighting what the Pro Football Docs have detailed since the offseason.

The third-year running back said he tore his ACL, LCL, hamstring and meniscus just over a year ago. The severity has complicated his recovery and he’s actually progressing well.

It was never realistic to expect production early on from him, he still needs to regain strength and confidence when cutting on his left leg.

Head coach John Harbaugh has spoken glowingly about Dobbins in recent weeks, saying he appears to have his quickness back and has looked great in recent practices.

By video, Dobbins appears to be doing well given the severity of his knee injury, but he’s not quite there yet, according to the Pro Football Docs.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson hinted at Dobbins’ return timeline last week, saying “Hopefully he’ll be out in a couple of weeks.”

That fits the Pro Football Docs’ assessment that October is when he will start to look like his pre-injury form.

Prior to the season, through SIC Picks, our staff advised taking the under on Dobbins’ season rushing yards of 875 yards. When Dobbins was ruled out Week 1, that future was taken down.

J.K. Dobbins on last year’s injury: “It wasn’t just a regular ACL. It was pretty bad.” Dobbins said he tore his ACL, LCL, hamstring and meniscus. “It would mean the world to me if I can go out there this Sunday and play well in front of a full house."
