Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins passed 100 yards in last Sunday’s win for the first time since suffering a multi-ligament tear in his left knee.
Dobbins’ breakout performance made headlines, but the key moment of his return was how he ran during a 44-yard run in the first quarter.
It is beyond admirable that Dobbins is back on the field after his extensive knee troubles, but he is not anywhere near 100%, according to the Pro Football Docs.
A close up picture of Dobbins’ knee provided a better picture of where he’s at in his recovery.
Those two prominent bumps on his left knee are the recent scope portals that are not completely sealed, according to the Pro Football Docs. The visible bumps are from the swelling he has poking through those portals.
Those same spots/holes have been used multiple times to fix issues with his ailing knee. On close up view, there’s also a scar from the large midline incision, which was made to harvest part of his patella tendon for a graft during his ACL tear.
Dobbins is nearly 16 months into his recovery from his original multi-ligament tear and may not be 100% until the offseason. The soon-to-be 24 year old deserves a ton of credit for working his way back to this point.
He faces the Browns on Saturday, his 24th birthday, with a chance to grab the lead in the AFC North. Dobbins has 50 carries for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns this season.
The Ravens are 2.5-point underdogs in Cleveland and the over/under is 38.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
