Hendon Hooker Injury: Tennessee QB Appears to Suffer Severe Knee Injury

Update: Hooker reportedly suffered an ACL tear, per Tennessee. That was the worry by video and now Hooker is unlikely to be ready for the NFL Draft combine.

Tennessee's night went from bad to worse when senior quarterback Hendon Hooker went down with a non-contact knee injury.

By video, there is significant worry that Hooker suffered a torn ACL when he tried to plant and cut in the backfield on an option play, according to the Pro Football Docs.

The Volunteers were down 49-31 with just over 11 minutes remaining when he suffered the injury.

Hooker attempted to cut, but immediately went down grabbing his left knee. By video, the injury mechanism is consistent with an ACL tear.

The best case scenario would be a bone bruise that would still likely keep him out extended time.

If confirmed on MRI, Hooker will be done for the season and it could hurt his draft stock.

Hooker is 11th this season in passing yards and tied for third lowest interceptions on the season with 2. He also has 430 yards rushing on 104 attempts.

With Hooker out, senior Joe Milton III will take over at quarterback for the time being.

Tennessee faces Vanderbilt in Nashville next week.
