The Grizzlies ruled out star point guard Ja Morant for Monday's Game 4 as he continues to deal with knee soreness.
Morant underwent an MRI but Memphis has yet to release the nature and severity of the injury and won't discuss the results of the MRI.
Head coach Taylor Jenkins said shortly before the game that Morant will continue to be evaluated and receive treatment on the right knee.
The 22-year-old all-star could return from the absence as soon as Game 5 on Wednesday, according to our team of ProBasketballDocs.
There has been discussion about a potential knee sprain, but the ProBasketballDocs don't believe that is the case. A more likely explanation for Morant's soreness is that the high-flying and aggressive point guard is suffering from tendonitis in his right knee as a result of overuse.
Morant missed nine games in late March and early April with knee soreness that was likewise never officially described or diagnosed.
The Grizzlies contend that he suffered the injury when Jordan Poole grabbed his knee while reaching for a loose ball in the fourth quarter of Game 3. The Docs have reviewed the video and do not see evidence that Poole's grabbing motion caused any new structural damage.
