Giannis Antetokounmpo Injury: Bucks All-Star Suffers Right Knee Scare Late In Tuesday Win

Milwaukee Bucks' superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered an apparent right knee contusion when he collided with Derrick White with 1:21 left in their win over the Celtics, the Bucks' 11th victory in a row.

Antetokounmpo went down and stayed down for long enough to frighten most Milwaukee fans, but the two-time MVP finished the fourth quarter and overtime with 36 points and 13 rebounds in 46 minutes.

Antetokounmpo, who was named an all-star team captain for Sunday's matchup, said after the game that it was “knee-to-knee contact" that momentarily brought him to his knees.

The 28-year-old forward recently missed five straight games and has been sidelined for 11 overall this season with left knee soreness, an issue dating back to 2019 that the Pro Basketball Docs detailed last month.

Since he and Khris Middleton returned on Jan. 23, the Bucks are 11-0 and Antetokounmpo has averaged 33.1 minutes with 37.2 points, 13.4 rebounds, and 5.8 assists on 23.2 shots and 14.3 free throws per game.

He has been listed on the Bucks' injury report with a sore right knee before the last several games but hasn't been limited and played through a back-to-back.
