Georgia Injury update: Will Darnell Washington miss the CFB National Championship game?

The CFB National Championship game is the biggest game of the college football season, drawing over 22 million views in last year’s game. Well, this year, one thing hasn’t changed about the game.

The Georgia Bulldogs.

The reigning national championships have had a magical season holding the country’s best record (14-0) in the country. The Bulldogs have won 16 straight games going back to last season, but in the team’s nail-biter against Ohio State, they suffered some injuries.

Darnell Washington is one of the biggest tight ends in college football at 6-foot-7. He’s a force in the running and reviving game because of his athleticism. But the mammoth tight end left the Ohio State game with an apparent lower-body injury.

Marty Smith of ESPN said, “ Kirby Smart told me that TE Darnell Washington’s leg injury is not an ankle sprain.

Smart said the injury is a “soft tissue contusion and strain,” does not require surgery, and, according to Smart, gives Washington a better chance to play in NC than if it was an ankle sprain.”

This news does bode well for Washington, who’s a projected first-round pick because a high ankle sprain would cause him to miss close to a month. There would have been a slim chance he would have been able to play without being severely limited.

The injury update of a soft tissue contusion and strain allows Washington to play if he can fight through the pain.

EDGE Mykel Williams suffered a lower-body injury against Ohio State. He’s been listed as day-to-day, and it’s said to be “nothing major.”

Wide receiver Ladd McConkey left the game against Ohio State after re-aggravating his knee injury that he’s been battling all season. McConkey will probably not practice much heading into the big game but expect him to play.

TCU vs. Georgia Odds
