Nolan Smith was the number one player recruited in the 2019 high school class. This was over players such as Kayvon Thibodeaux and Derek Stingley, who were eventual top 10 picks in the 2021 NFL draft.
Since then, Smith has been one of the leaders of one of the best defenses in college football history. This season he has 18 tackles, seven of which have been for loss. Furthermore, he leads the team with three sacks.
Smith is ranked as the 24th player in the CBS Sports 2023 NFL Draft Prospect Rankings. But, after surgery on a torn pectoral muscle, his season has been cut short. Losing Smith will make the task of containing Heisman candidate Hendon Hooker even harder.
Georgia is also without senior RB Kendall Milton, who suffered a groin injury against Auburn. Milton came into the game as the teams leading rusher, with 269 yards and four touchdowns.
Georgia is favored by 8.5 points at home against Tennessee, and the over/under is 65.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
