College Football Injury Roundup: British Brooks, Trayvon Rudolph and 2 Texas Injuries

Fall college football camps are here and every team is undefeated for the first time until after Week 1. There are new installs from all the new coaches around the league, and conditioning is underway. But, in fall camps, there have been a couple of injuries that have hurt some teams’ chances of staying undefeated.

British Brooks, RB, UNC:

Last weekend, Brooks was diagnosed with a lower-body injury that will require him to miss the entire season, according to the school. Brooks is a former walk-on that was a special teams star early in his career. After leading the UNC Tar Heels in rushing in their final three games of the season, which included a breakout game where he rushed for a career-high 124 yards, Brooks was expected to start.

Trayvon Rudolph, WR, Northern Illinois:

Star wide receiver from Northern Illinois, Trayvon Rudolph, suffered a non-contact knee injury and The Athletic reported he will miss the 2022 season.  Last season, Rudolph was the second-team All-Mac as a WR and kick returner. He had 51 receptions, 892 receiving yards, and seven receiving touchdowns. He’s an explosive player that averaged 17.5 yards per catch and posted 1,462 all-purpose yards.

Junior Angilau, OL, Texas:

Angilau is a fifth-year senior for the Texas Longhorns, who’s started 34 games, and was a 2022 second-team All-Big 12 Preseason selection by Athlon Sports. He has been reported to suffer an ACL injury, and will miss the entire 2022 season. Last season he played six games at right guard and six at left guard showing his versatility as a lineman for a team that’s struggled with pass protection over the last three seasons. He helped the Longhorns set a  school single-game yards per carry record of 10.4 against Rice University.

Isaiah Neyor, WR, Texas:

Neyor tore his ACL over the weekend and will miss the entire 2022 season for the Longhorns. The Wyoming transfer was supposed to help remove coverage from sophomore star receiver Xavier Worthy. Last season for Wyoming, Neyor had 44 receptions for 878 yards and 12 touchdowns. The loss will hurt Texas star transfer quarterback, Quinn Ewers, getting acclimated with the team.
