Darren Waller Injury: Raiders TE Likely Out At Least One Game With Hamstring Strain

Darren Waller injured his hamstring in the first quarter of the Las Vegas Raiders game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Waller had no injury designation before playing in the game.

The Raiders have a bye this week, but it's likely Waller will miss at least one game after that bye, according to the Pro Football Docs.

Hamstring injuries for someone of Waller's physique and play style can be detrimental to their production because they rely on speed to get open.

If Waller cannot run at full speed and continuously make sharp changes in direction, he will sit out.

Backup Foster Moreau is dealing with a knee injury and has missed the last two weeks, which could encourage the Raiders to rush Waller back at less than 100%. Either way, count Waller out for the Raiders Week 7 matchup against the Texans.

Before the injury, Waller didn't get a chance to register a catch in the game. But this season, he's accumulated 175 yards and 1 touchdown. To his standard, he's having a below-average year, and a lingering injury could be the problem.

In his career, he's had two separate hamstring injuries that have kept him out for different periods of time. The first one landed Waller on injury reserve and caused him to miss nine games. The second hamstring strain was in the preseason. But he didn't miss any of the team's games.

After Waller signed a three-year, $51 million contract extension, he returned to practice. But, his production has been seeming to suffer.
