The Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football in Week 5, with Tampa Bay set to be without at least one key defensive starter and several other players dealing with injuries on the short week.

Safety Antoine Winfield Jr. has been ruled out with a rib fracture, while quarterback Baker Mayfield has not practiced through Tuesday due to a right thumb injury. Tampa Bay also has SirVocea Dennis and Benjamin Morrison among the players who have yet to practice this week.

Dallas is dealing with several injuries of its own. DeMarvion Overshown, Cobie Durant and Drew Shelton have not practiced through Tuesday, while All-Pro guard Tyler Smith has returned to practice after Dallas opened his 21-day return window.

Ifeatu Melifonwu is next on Tampa Bay's depth chart at safety in Winfield's absence.

Baker Mayfield Remains Out of Practice

Mayfield has been listed as a non-participant Monday and Tuesday due to a right thumb injury. Tampa Bay has indicated that Jalon Daniels will remain the starting quarterback in Mayfield's absence.

Dennis, Morrison Remain Sidelined

Dennis has not participated through Tuesday due to ankle and foot injuries, while Morrison has remained out with a quad injury. Neither player has received an official game designation yet.

McLaughlin was a new addition Tuesday, sitting out with right groin and hip injuries after not appearing on Monday's report.

DeMarvion Overshown Unlikely to Play

Overshown has not practiced Monday or Tuesday while dealing with a hamstring injury. Schottenheimer described Overshown's chances of returning Thursday as a “long shot.”

Durant has also missed both practices with a hamstring injury, and Dallas indicated that both Overshown and Durant are likely to be ruled out for Week 5. Shelton has also remained sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Will Tyler Smith Return Against Tampa Bay?

Smith returned to practice after Dallas opened his 21-day window Monday. He underwent surgery before the season to repair a damaged ligament in his thumb and has yet to play this season.

Smith has been limited Monday and Tuesday. He said Monday that playing Thursday is possible, but Dallas has not yet activated him to the 53-man roster.

Buccaneers vs. Cowboys Team SIC Scores

Tampa Bay enters Thursday with an 83.6 Team SIC Score, compared to 81.4 for Dallas, giving the Buccaneers a 2.2-point overall health advantage.

The Cowboys hold the advantage offensively, with an 87.8 Offensive SIC Score compared to Tampa Bay's 84.0. The largest difference comes defensively, where Tampa Bay's 83.2 Defensive SIC Score is 8.2 points higher than Dallas' 75.0.

Despite Tampa Bay holding the higher overall Team SIC Score, Winfield's absence and Mayfield's continued absence from practice create two significant personnel questions entering Thursday night.

This article will be updated Wednesday when the Buccaneers and Cowboys release their final injury reports and official game designations.
