Brock Bowers, standout tight end for the Las Vegas Raiders, suffered a knee injury during the team's 2025 NFL Week 1 victory over the New England Patriots, causing major concern for fans and fantasy football managers alike. Bowers, who had already tallied 103 receiving yards on five catches before the injury, limped off the field early in the fourth quarter and did not return to the game.

Details of the Injury

Reports from the field state that Bowers was hit on his right hip/thigh but was seen favoring his left knee as he exited the field. He attempted to stretch and test the knee on the sideline but the Raiders quickly ruled him questionable to return. The play was a tough blow to the Raiders’ offense, as Bowers had been the top target for quarterback Geno Smith throughout the matchup.

Pro Football Doc Injury Analysis

Dr. David Chao, known as the Pro Football Doc, weighed in on Bowers’ potential prognosis:

“Bowers was hit on his right hip/thigh and limped off favoring his left knee. By video, we believe him to have sustained a PCL sprain. It would not end his season, but if low-grade he can return soon, though likely not today.”

This analysis is relatively positive, indicating the injury is likely a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) sprain and not a season-ending event. A low-grade PCL sprain typically allows athletes to return within weeks, assuming no complicating factors.

Team and Fantasy Football Implications

The Raiders have officially listed Bowers as questionable and will provide updates as more information becomes available. In the event Bowers misses time, tight end Michael Mayer is projected to see a larger role in the Raiders’ passing offense. For fantasy owners, Bowers' long-term outlook still appears optimistic, but a cautious approach is recommended until an official timetable is released based on further testing and MRI results.
