(Update: According to Pro Football Doc, Rodgers likely suffered a left wrist fracture. The type of fracture will determine how long Rodgers will be sidelined, and even if Rodgers requires surgery, it may not be season-ending.)
In today’s game, veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers was forced to exit after suffering a left wrist injury.
By video, he used his non-throwing hand to brace himself during an attempted sack, and the impact appeared to land awkwardly on his left wrist. Following the hit, Rodgers walked off the field and was replaced by Mason Rudolph, raising immediate questions about his status moving forward and whether he’ll be able to return later in the contest. He is officially questionable with a left hand injury and likely needs imaging to confirm details of the injury.
While it remains unclear how serious the injury is, Rodgers has dealt with a number of upper-body issues throughout his career. He fractured his left collarbone in 2013, an injury that sidelined him for several weeks. In 2017, he endured another clavicle injury, this time on the right side, after a hard hit set him back yet again. Additionally, Rodgers has battled through a broken thumb on his throwing hand (the right) in recent seasons.
Because of that background, team doctors will now likely be watching closely to see whether this latest injury is minor or something more threatening.
