49ers Tight End George Kittle Provides Recovery Timeline After Core Muscle Surgery

Following the 49ers' Super Bowl loss, tight end George Kittle underwent core muscle surgery and is now on track to be ready for the start of training camp.

Kittle sustained a core muscle injury midway through the regular season but only missed the 49ers Week 18 game, which did not impact their postseason positioning.

Pro Football Doc fully expects Kittle to be back for training camp and be ready for Week 1 of the NFL season. Core muscle injuries are common in the NFL and most players can play through a likely offseason surgery coming. Additionally, teammate Charvarius Ward, who also underwent the same core muscle surgery, is on the same recovery timeline as Kittle.

This week, Kittle confirmed to reporters that his recovery is on schedule. "The goal is to be back and ready for training camp," Kittle added.

Despite his injury, Kittle recorded 65 catches for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns during the regular season and added eight catches for 112 yards and a touchdown in the postseason.
