One of our favorite early-season college football angles comes Sunday night when No. 24 Louisville takes on No. 9 Ole Miss in Nashville.
We’re locking in Under 55.5 points.
Competitively priced games during Week 0 and Week 1 are often strong Under opportunities. Unlike many early-season matchups featuring massive talent disparities, this is a legitimate top-25 matchup with Ole Miss sitting around a touchdown favorite. The current market has Ole Miss favored by 6.5 to 7 points with a total of 55.5.
The value, however, comes from the perception surrounding Ole Miss.
Ole Miss carries the reputation of being a dead-nut Over team after producing one of college football's most explosive offenses last season. The Rebels averaged nearly 490 yards per game in 2025, while quarterback Trinidad Chambliss returns after throwing for 3,937 yards with 22 touchdowns and only three interceptions. Star running back Kewan Lacy is also back after producing 24 touchdowns last season.
That offensive reputation is helping inflate Sunday's number. We believe it's giving us roughly 2.5 points of value on the total.
There are reasons to expect Ole Miss to experience more resistance than the market might anticipate. The Rebels lost four wide receivers from last year's offense, meaning Chambliss enters the opener with a substantially reshaped receiving corps. Louisville also brings enough defensive talent and physicality to prevent this from simply becoming an Ole Miss track meet. Chambliss himself has emphasized the physical challenge Louisville's defense presents.
The other side of the matchup is just as important.
Louisville enters the season with Lincoln Kienholz taking over at quarterback. Ole Miss should be capable of creating problems up front, particularly against a Louisville offensive line incorporating new pieces. The Rebels still have high-end defensive talent, including Suntarine Perkins and a deep defensive front that should be capable of disrupting Louisville's offensive rhythm.
There's also evidence that the market has already pushed this total because of Ole Miss' offensive reputation. One tracked market had the game opening around 53.5 before moving to 55.5, with nearly 73% of reported total tickets backing the Over.
That's exactly where we want to go the other way.
In an early-season matchup between two competitive top-25 teams, we're willing to sell the Ole Miss offensive reputation and bet that both defenses do enough to keep this game below the market's elevated expectation.
Pick: Louisville vs. Ole Miss Under 55.5
