Arkansas Razorbacks defensive end Landon Jackson suffered a scary moment on the field when attempting a tackle during a game against Missouri on November 30 2024, as he was carted off following a neck injury late in the first half. Jackson was immediately taken to a hospital for evaluation. Fortunately, after undergoing precautionary testing, he was released and afterwards was reportedly “doing well,” according to Razorbacks head coach Sam Pittman.
Athletic director Hunter Yurachek provided a reassuring update, stating that Jackson had movement in his extremities and was able to communicate while being treated. While the situation looked serious in the moment, it appears the decision to transport him to the hospital was made out of an abundance of caution to rule out any significant injury at the time.
Jackson, a standout on the Arkansas defensive line, has been rising up draft boards and is widely considered one of the top edge rushers in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. Several mock drafts are projecting him as a potential second-round pick. Some analysts even believe he could sneak into the late first round.
One popular fit among draft analysts is the Detroit Lions, who hold the 28th overall pick. Jackson could pair effectively with rising star Aidan Hutchinson to bolster Detroit’s already formidable defensive front. Other teams such as the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens are also believed to be strong candidates to target Jackson in the second round. Regardless of where he lands, Jackson’s upside, physical tools, and continued growth make him one of the more intriguing defensive prospects heading into the 2025 NFL Draft.
At 6’7” and weighing over 270 pounds, Jackson possesses elite physical traits, including explosiveness off the snap and a strong ability to set the edge against the run. While still developing as a pass rusher, his improvement since transferring from LSU to Arkansas has been notable. Scouts praise his ability to anchor against the run and his steadily growing arsenal of pass-rushing moves.
